Meaning Guru (Teacher) has given us the precious gift of knowledge and we the Shishyas (students) would replicate the knowledge further and for generations.
Keeping the same notion in mind SWANAND KALA PRASARAK KENDRA was founded by Kathak Nritya Alankar, Mrs. SWATI SANDEEP KOLLE in 2006 in Thane (Mumbai). We are extremely glad and proud to see that our dream has come true.
Looking at the success of the Nritya Kendra where we have more than 600 students learning the art form Kathak, we dedicate this achievement to our Guru as well as our parents. We also thank all the people who showed their support and love to our Nritya Kendra. With the blessings of our Guru, Parents and all the people who supported us, our SWANAND KALA PRASARAK KENDRA is standing tall and gracefully spreading the knowledge.
When we started the Kala Kendra, we were just following our Guru’s foot-steps. But today, looking at the growth and response, only one thing comes to our mind…

Meaning, we are doing our work of spreading happiness, knowledge and awareness of the art form; and in return we are blessed with contentment and progress which will be with us forever.
Our Aim:
The main aims of SWANAND KALA PRASARAK KENDRA are:
- to spread the awareness of Kathak Art form and replicate the knowledge to as many people as we can
- to sustain Guru - Shishya tradition
- to retain the purity of Kathak
- to make knowledgeable and better audience
- to create fine Artists, well-versed with the art form and its importance
Keeping these aims in our mind and to reach these milestones, SWANAND Kala Prasarak Kendra has been organizing various conceptual programs and events as follows :
- Gurupurnima Utsav: To depict the Guru-Shishya Tradition
- Nrutyankur: To spread the knowledge of Kathak and to build interest and curiosity about the art form in the tender minds of children
- Swanand Gaurav Sohala: Annual award and Dance event to encourage the students to be better Artists and better performers.
- Kalaanand Puraskar and Pradynanad Puraskar are given on behalf of Swanand for noteworthy contribution in the field of Music and Science/environmental conservation.
- A new organization by the name “SWANAND KALA PRASARAK SANSTHA” was established in year 2014 under which “JHEELNAGARI MUSIC FESTIVAL” is organized every year in which reputed artists in the field of Music & dance perform. So far Dr.Manjiri Deo, Vishal Krishna, Pt. Shounak Abhisheki, Shri Vaibhav Arekar, Vidha & Abhimanyu Lal , Saswati Sen and Padmavibhushan Pt.Birju Maharaj ji have performed in Jheelnagari Music Festival.
- Swanand Kala Prasark Kendra in organizes a grand Solo Kathak Dance competition every year.
- Swanand also organizes Kathak dance workshops every year of various reputed artists. So far the artists who have conducted workshop at Swanand are Pt. Mohan Krishna and Shri Vishal Krishna (Grandson of Lt. Dr. Sitara Devi ji.), Pt. Mukundraj Deo (Reknowned Tabla Artist) and Dr. Mrs. Manjiri DeoDeo, Vidushi Mamta Maharaj and Pt. Ravi Shankar Mishra
- Swanand organises the Jheelnagari Yuva Music Festival every year for young budding artists.
